What pharmacy do you go to buy medicines and prescription drugs? Well, the nearest pharmacy we always go to get our prescription drugs and refill is Walgreens. I also buy other stuffs from Walgreens and redeemed some coupons. It was a sad news for us as Walgreens customer and Tricare member when we heard about Walgreens and Express Script dispute regarding the renewal of contracts. As a result, Walgreens is no longer part of Express Scripts’ pharmacy provider network as of Jan. 1, 2012. Walgreens offers more 24-hour and drive-thru pharmacies than any other pharmacy in the country but because of what happened pharmacy patients are forced to go elsewhere to use their in-network pharmacy benefits, change their pharmacists and drive farther to get prescriptions filled at pharmacies with less convenient hours for their hectic schedules. It's absolutely adds hassles, inconvenience and stress to patients covered by an Express Scripts plan. Thus, Express Scripts’ actions are causing disruption with no significant benefit to patients or their health plan.
One of Express Scripts’ clients is Tricare, which is the health and prescription drug program for America’s military service men and women. My husband is a semi-retired air force and yes we are under Tricare. Walgreens discussed some option during the negotiation and made an effort to prevent our country’s military personnel from being caught in the middle but Express Scripts rejected the offer. Meanwhile, there is one solution to this problem in order to save money on your prescription drugs and refill by becoming a member of Walgreens Prescription Savings Club. Walgreens wants to help ease the burden by offering special discount on annual membership for its Prescription Savings Club. Visit their website to find our more information and other benefits you can enjoy if you're a member. I encourage you to follow Walgreens on Twitter and like Walgreens on Facebook to stay updated and support Walgreens Way to Well Commitment.
